HP’s line of sleek, sexy Envy notebooks is getting a hot new edition in the form of the Envy 17 3D, which as the name implies, offers a 3D experience on the notebook’s 17.3-inch full HD display. The most interesting fact about the product is that it will use AMD’s 3D technology, making it the first non-Nvidia active-3D solution for the PC.
The Envy will come outfitted with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 discrete graphics card and a pair of HP’s own active shutter glasses. The card will support both games and Blu-ray 3D movies. As with the non-3D Envy 17, consumers will have the choice of a Core i5 or Core i7 processor.
HP says the Envy 17 3D will be available this holiday season and there are reports the price will come in below $2,000.
