Rumor: Toshiba to Launch Glasses-free 3D TVs in 2010
Toshiba plans to put glasses-free 3D TVs into Japanese living rooms very soon, according to Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. The company is said to be prepping three autostereoscopic 3D TVs with a conveniently wide viewing angle for a late 2010 launch. According to the report, Toshiba's autostereoscopic 3D TVs could cost several thousand dollars. While a spokesperson for the company declined to comment on the report, she acknowledged that glasses-free 3D was part of its plans. Toshiba had showcased a similar display earlier this year. That particular glasses-free display featured a multi-parallax design. Such an approach allows for a wide viewing angle as images are adjusted depending on the viewer's position.
